One of the first new beers to be released from the new Sierra Nevada brewery at Mills River was Rain Check Spiced Stout. The name came about as a result of the heavy rainfall which fell on the site during the construction of the new brewery. At 8.9% ABV the beer is no slouch with a nice spice nature which makes it a perfect fall/winter beer. The flavor is highlighted by ginger, but I seem to pick up notes of cinnamon and clove. Also present is molasses, brown sugar and lime. It’s a pretty nifty drink and I found it quite enjoyable. If you are lucky enough to be in an area where the beer is distributed be sure to get some. It’s a tasty beverage!
