Back in April 2015 I posted about the reserve sheriff’s deputy who pulled his revolver instead of his taser and killed the suspect. In the end Robert Bates, 74, was sentenced to four years for killing Eric Harris. There were no winners in this instance, the suspect was killed and a retiree goes to jail and becomes a felon. The criminal justice system worked in this case and the officer was arrested, tried, sentenced and will now begin to serve his time behind bars for his actions.
