I posted recently about Apothic Red and how I had tasted it at a wine bar recently. As it turns out the wine I tasted was Apothic Dark and while I enjoyed it at the wine bar the bottle we purchased for the house was just not as wonderful. It had some nice dark fruit, chocolate, and even a hint of coffee, but it just wasn’t as bright and enjoyable as the Red. I think it would pair wonderfully with food, but by itself it was a bit much, maybe too dark. We have another bottle to sample and confirm the first impression, but I believe for the house Apothic Red will be our bottle of choice as opposed to the Dark.
