There was a piece in the New York Times (NYT) by Brian Lombardi entitled 27 Ways To Be A Modern Man. Number 25 was The modern man has no use for a gun. He doesn’t own one, and he never will. Mike Rowe was asked to comment on the piece and he created his own 27 point list of ways to be a Man’s Man. Number 25 is where I want to focus for the discussion today.
NYT: The modern man has no use for a gun. He doesn’t own one, and he never will.
MR: A Man’s Man owns at least one firearm. He knows how to use it, clean it, and store it properly. He understands it’s importance, and sees it for what it is – a tool that can protect him and his family.
I’ve always respected Mike Rowe and now I respect him even more. In three sentences he explained responsible firearm ownership.
His entire rebuttal list is awesome. I believe it only exists on Facebook so you may need an account to view it.
