So as much as I believe we have a right to firearms, I also believe anyone who breaks the law should be prosecuted. I recently ran into a story about a FFL in Illinois who falsified records to sell guns illegally. They prosecuted and gave him 48 months in jail for the crime, but the investigation and purchases happened over several months. My question is why did it take so long? How about slapping on the cuffs after the first buy and not allowing him to potentially commit criminal acts again.

If you are skirting the law I hope you are caught and punished. While you may not agree with the laws, they are what govern society so adhere to them until they are changed.
