Apparently neither did anyone else or all the illegal guns are off the streets already. Last year the program netted 410 firearms and so far in 2015 they have taken in one. That’s right, ONE! Something is wrong in the first place with the buyback programs. They do not get the firearms out of the hands of criminals, what they get is old, forgotten, and broken firearms which often are not worth the money they spend on them. On occasion these programs will net a collectors items lost in an attic somewhere in time, but typically people bring in firearms they find to collect the cash since it is better than what they would get at a salvage yard for the scrap value. We should abandon these types of programs as they are not stopping crime and use the money for something worthwhile for the police force or the citizens.
