The biggest problem with the Budweiser Superbowl Commercial where they said, “Let them drink their Pumpkin Peach Ale,” is they just purchased Elysian Brewing Company and so now they actually make a beer with pumpkin and peach.

It was a pretty good slam commercial for craft beer drinkers and I’m sure all the Bud devotees did high fives all around before they headed out to Wal-Mart for a shopping spree, but people in glass houses really shouldn’t throw stones. Bud has been trying to get high-end salespeople for their “craft” brands and I don’t know what percentage of their sales is Shock Top, but I suspect it is more than Michelob. At least it was a well made commercial. I doubt it is going to make a craft beer drinker change their philosophy. More likely what it will do is make them not buy any beer produced by an AB affiliated brewery.
