Last night I opened a bottle of Foothills Baltic Porter which had been hanging out in my fridge for quite some time. It rang in at 9% ABV and didn’t let you forget it had some alcohol. The alcohol was restrained in the aroma and the flavor, but when it came time for warming post consumption it was large and in charge. For me the beer had a bit too much roasted and could have used a swing toward more chocolate, but it came across as smooth and not harsh with the exception of the alcohol. Sweetness saved the day, but for some reason it just wasn’t a blow your socks off kinda brew despite all the work they put in to craft it. If you see it, might be worth snagging, or if it is on your wish list, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.
