I was asked last night what shotgun I would suggest for home protection and of course I replied a Mossberg 500. The first shotgun I was given was actually a Mossberg 500, but was labeled as a New Haven 600AT and is practically identical to the 500. I’ve never had a single issue out of mine with the exception I broke the thumb safety and I actually made a piece from PVC which I shaped and drilled to replace it and it is as good as new. The shotgun comes in any number of configurations, but I’ve always suggested the user go for a 12 gauge since the ammo is prevalent and easy to obtain. During the most recent ammo shortage the one ammo you could always find was shotgun ammo in 12 gauge. So if you are looking for a pump-action shotgun look no further than a Mossberg 500.
