I’ve got this on the brain today so I might as well post about it. I can understand a server who has the kitchen mess up an order and I can understand a server who cannot get the bar to pour the drinks, but I just cannot understand not keeping water glasses filled and the table in the loop on the potential reason for the delays. I’m not sure if the place I went last night was shorthanded or if the server just had too many tables too far apart, but we had just about the worst experience. One in our group continually had to ask to have his water-glass refilled and even when he asked the waiter did not return to fill him up. Beer glasses sat empty, three people were served, then the fourth and I only got my meal as I asked for the manager because everyone else was done. The manager apologized and took the food off the bill. I told the waiter as I paid the check I was tipping him low as a result of the service and hoped if he served us again he wouldn’t leave us hanging and that I would tip back to normal for acceptable service. I felt kinda bad having to call the manager, but the night was not improving after it started sliding downhill. Some days you’re the windshield, last night I felt more like the bug.
