Just a reminder for those from North Carolina when you have a permit to carry concealed it is a Concealed Handgun Permit. I often see people calling it a CCW permit (concealed carry weapon) and that just isn’t correct. Some people say it doesn’t matter, those are the people who routinely call a magazine a clip. It does matter. Instructors in North Carolina have been Concealed Carry Handgun Instructors (CCH) and they provide the classes which allow you to get your CHP. It is worth noting my most recent instructor card from the NCDOJ says Certified Concealed Carry Firearms Instructor so maybe now we need to call instructors CCCF, whew, that is a mouthful! Per the NC Code the course is Concealed Carry Handgun Training, so the CCH seems more appropriate despite what the new plastic card indicates.
Bottom line for North Carolina citizens, call the permit a CHP unless you are the type to call a magazine a clip. And if you are the type who calls a magazine a clip then you might think about working to change your terminology. I do realize several law enforcement agencies across the state have the permit listed incorrectly on their websites. Perhaps those who have it incorrect also call a magazine a clip.
