The initial Senate gun control bill did not pass on Wednesday. Surrounded by Newtown families and former Arizona Representative Gabrielle Giffords, President Obama expressed his displeasure that lobbying efforts by gun control advocates had not passed.
President Obama called the failure to pass “Shameful.” The problem too often with bills is they try to encompass everything without regard to the ultimate effect. If we do X, we can stop Y, but they never consider passing X will have ultimately affect Z. I think those voting against the measure finally took common sense into consideration and finally realized “common sense gun regulation” was lacking in the common sense department. I am sure something will eventually pass, but at least it won’t be this.
