I received a note from GRNC that HB111 was finally moving forward. Word is if this ever hits the Senate floor it will pass. This bill is an excellent step forward for NC. If a criminal was smart they would target those leaving restaurants where alcohol is served knowing the vast majority of CCH permit holders would not be carrying a firearm and were easy prey. Passage of this bill would allow those not drinking to carry in the restaurant if it is not prohibited and would level that playing field.
The News & Observer put their spin on the story, but at least they covered both sides of the discussion. The current version of HB111 includes clarification on park carry, but the most important change would be to allow carry in non-posted restaurants.
