Zombie Killer is a cherry cyser. A cyser is an apple melomel, a mead and apple cider combination generally fermented together. If you are not familiar with mead, it is honey wine. So Zombie Killer is a cyser with cherry juice added. What is immediately evident is a sweet cherry aroma and flavor coupled to the cyser backbone, but the tartness in the flavor is not far behind. Despite being classified as sweet, the finish is dry and tart with lasting cherries long and pleasantly into the aftertaste. The aroma is that of cherry pie, minus the crust of course. It really was an excellent choice for the mayhem which was last nights episode of TWD. Each sip left a bitter tart note on the palate which is especially nice when watching the zombie hoards take repeated head shots to meet their ultimate demise.
Maybe by the time TWD returns in the fall I will have decided what beverage will go best with the group traveling to the prison and meeting Michonne!
